Rex’s 4 door H2B teg is one of the cleanest and well done in the south east for sure, from the fresh ghost grey paint to the 15×7 volk ce28′s. This H2B swap is getting this thing track and ready and he is well on his way there. Dropped on god speed coil overs and running hoosier 225/50/15s radials up front. This thing will be flying by the summer so be on the look out for it!

This build didn’t start as a build at all. A matter of fact, the car had zero plans of ‘big’ modifications when Mike purchased it. The plan was to drive it daily and get some stock alloys for it. After a few months of owning it some minor exterior mods were purchased, a few were sourced for free from his brother and a few parts were painted for subtle changes.
In the beginning Mike fell out of the scene completely, he didn’t go to a single show all year and was generally bored of his recent purchase. It’s not that he regretted buying it. Just that he didn’t see the potential, and we’re glad he finally did. Mike’s friend’s dragged him to one of the last shows of the season, Broke.Down. He gained inspiration quickly and realized what he had been missing out on the entire year, the scene.
That night Mike made the first of many purchases through Bag Riders. Countless threads were read on as many forums as he could. He went by the ‘do it right or do it twice’ rule. He had intended to slowly buy parts over the next year to get his ideal setup together. Accuair’s E-Level was a must for simplicity and reliability. Everything came together much faster than anticipated. Airlift XL front bags were sourced lightly used off a local forum. The rear setup, Slam Specialties RE-5 bags and Dorbritz Design D-Cups were bought through Bag Riders as were the Viair Dual 444’s and 5 gallon tank. Tank size would allow plenty of air to play with the switches and the 444s allowed for a quiet, quick fill up. Now, Mike has a knack for attention to detail and even with the reliability and warning messages the E-Level offers, he wanted to know the air pressures. So a Dakota Digital Series 2 gauge was purchased to keep him at ease, and mounted in a stock-like vent gauge pod.
In tradition, Mike devotes an entire weekend to detailing, cleaning and working on his car around his Birthday. This year, it was a little different. Having never installed suspension on a mk5, let alone done anything with air suspension. Two long days and late nights, the bags were installed and fully functioning. The wheels were sourced used off a local forum to replace the steelies and winter tires. He wasn’t sure how they would fit being 17s, but he couldn’t be happier, and we couldn’t agree more.

As far as future plans, the interior and motor might see some work. But with the way this car came to be and the incredible support from his friends and family, the possibilities are endless. We’re happy Mike finally saw the light with his new car and built it for himself. It sure has classy Steez and we look forward to seeing its progression.

Trevor Malan purchased his 2003 Subaru WRX Wagon 4 years ago during his sophomore year of high school. It was Trevor’s first car. At the time he wasn’t into cars and bought it with no intentions of modifying it… he thought simply having an exhaust was cool, but didn’t know anything else. It wasn’t until his senior year that he really got into building his car, but he had one goal — going fast. So, he bought a bigger turbo set up with all the supporting modifications you see listed. It wasn’t until many months later that he was bitten by the “stance” bug. Since then, the car’s stance has been a work in progress. After two sets of fenders, body work, and a few sets of wheels; Trevor has finally achieved the car’s current look. Trevor says he’s never going to be done, and he has big plans for the car’s future. Trevor’s friends have been his biggest influence; always pushing him to go harder and go lower. He says, “I really owe it to them.” Trevor has enjoyed watching the car become what it is today and he can’t wait for his future plans to come into fruition.

Two weeks ago this was just a plain ole’ stock Jetta. Now with the fresh GLI lip kit, Porsche twist wheels, this girl is def. rolling in style. She’s put just as much work into it as her BF did getting it all fixed up, don’t be fooled by the stereotype that girls cant work on cars !
